  1. Click on the Start menu and type “wab” in the search bar. Select the Windows Address Book application from the search results.
  2. In the Address Book, go to the “File” menu, choose “Export”, and then select “Address Book (WAB)”.
  3. Select the “Text File (Comma Separated Values)” format and click “Export”.
  4. Click “Browse” to choose a directory where the exported CSV file will be saved. Enter a file name and click “Save”.
  5. In the “Export Windows Address Book” dialog, check the fields you want to include, such as Name, Email, and Phone Number. Click “Finish” to proceed.
  6. Your contacts will now be saved in a CSV file, ready to be imported into Outlook.

Thanks for the instruction. I’ve tried using the built-in messages converter, but it keeps crashing with an error. Do you have a software tool to convert Live Mail messages to Outlook PST?

Used demo version. After I selected my empty directory to export my live mail VCF files, I had only an OK to select and not a save. When I clicked OK the Names only were exported to the empty directory. I never had a chance to select any other contact fields, and therefore, email addresses were not exported. Is there a way I can transfer both name and email address from live mail to export?
Dick

Hi Richard. Thanks so much for correcting our example. Yes, there should be an OK button instead of the Save button. The “Save” button and the selection of fields indicate the functionality of older Windows Live version, which was excluded later.
I want to assure you that the email addresses and other values were exported if they were filled. Your mistake is that you visually checked the VCF file names in the file explorer, not the contents of the VCF file. All files were named like “John Doe.vcf” and you saw the name of the contact as the file name. Please continue and use the rest of instruction. After importing the VCF files into Outlook you will see that all contact fields are in place.
